Transnet is a public company wholly-owned by government. It is the largest and most crucial part of the freight logistics chain that delivers goods to each and every South African. 

Transnet delivers thousands of tons of goods daily around South Africa, through its pipelines and both to and from its ports. 

The goal of the company is to be a focused freight transport organisation, delivering integrated, efficient, safe, reliable and cost-effective services to promote economic growth in South Africa.

Transnet is essentially driven by five operating divisions: Transnet Freight Rail, Transnet Rail Engineering, Transnet National Ports Authority, Transnet Port Terminals and Transnet Pipelines.

Transnet Youth Programme


Cadet Bursary Students: 

Transnet National Ports Authority (Human Resource). The students are enrolled at a Technikon for a year. 
They must be at least 18 years old when they go to sea. It is a nationwide initiative which gets advertised in the news papers for recruitment process. The plan is to recruit 200 cadets for the 2011/ 12 Financial Year.  

Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Mathematics and Science subjects

Transnet/ SAFA Football School of Excellence: 

The intention is to enhance learner football and academic skills.

Requirements:

  • Sporting ability
  • Academic ability for grades 8 age 13 and 14.

Developing sporting talent in rural and farm schools: 

Requirements: 

  • They must come from 20 selected schools of a participating region.
  • Sporting ability and they should be between 12 and 13 years of age.
