QUESTION NO.: 81

DATE OF PUBLICATION: 05 March 2010
Mr D B Feldman (COPE-Gauteng) to ask the Minister of Public Enterprises:
Whether the Government intends selling a part of all the State Owned Enterprises to private companies to assist with its financial short falls; if not, why not; if so, (a) how will the Government implement the selling process and (b) when?      CW107E
REPLY

An Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) co-chaired by the Ministers of Public Enterprises and Finance has been established to review State Owned Enterprises (SOE). President Jacob Zuma has also initiated an independent review of the country’s SOE. As stated by the President, these two processes are complementary and will culminate in a single synthesized report for consideration and decision-making by Cabinet. The outcomes of both processes will determine the way forward and therefore any speculation in this regard, will be premature.
