DATE OF PUBLICATION: 05 March 2010
Mr M A Nhanha (Cope) to ask the Minister of Public Enterprises:
Whether the Government will take any measures to facilitate the strategic alliance between SA Express and SA Airlink with SA Airways (SAA) to include other airlines to (a) help achieve equity, (b) promote competitiveness and (c) grow the industry; if not, why not; if so, what measures will her department take to facilitate the formation of such a strategic alliance? REPLY

(a-c) Given that the South African domestic aviation industry is economically deregulated by virtue of the Air Services Act, 1990 (as amended), strategic alliances between airlines is a commercial matter.
