Question 1113
Mr L W Greyling (ID) to ask Minister of Public Enterprises:
Whether a certain company (Sonchem) had a contract to supply artillery propellant to the British Army; if so, what are the relevant details; whether this artillery propellant was used by the British Army during the war in Irag; if so, what are the relevant details? N1461E
Reply
Sonchem signed an agreement with the British Ministry of Defence for the development of a modular charge system. This contract has however not yet taken effect and is in the process of termination. The agreement does not provide for the supply of artillery propellant and no services or supplies were sold and/ or delivered under the agreement. Thus no artillery propellant supplied by Denel was used by the Brutish Army during the war in Iraq.
