Mrs J A Semple (DA) to ask the Minister for Public Enterprises
Whether certain companies (names furnished*) have been awarded tenders, contracts or business of any sort by Transnet in the latest specified financial year for which information is available; if so, what are the relevant details? N1376E

My department does not deal with contracts other than those provided for in Section 54 (2) of the Public Finance Management Act No 1 of 1999 which essentially deals with major investments undertaken by an SOE that may impact on its balance sheet. Tenders and similar procurement contracts differ from such investments mentioned above and are dealt with as an operational issue directly by the SOE. I do not believe that there is any reasonable cause to disclose operational information in the detail being requested.
