Reply

Yes, the two 1000 cubic metre gas spheres in the Port of Port Elizabeth are in use.
The gas spheres are safe, and they comply with the safety regulations that apply to the rest of the tank farm. In respect of the management of environmental and safety hazards associated with the operation of the fuel tank farm, the Port of Port Elizabeth is ISO 14001 certified and complies with all environmental requirements.

Transnet further ensures that the operator of the fuel tank farm, the fuel industry, complies with legislation on the management of environmental and safety hazards associated with the operation of the fuel tank farm.
There are no plans to relocate the two LPG gas spheres. They are operated within the tank farm in accordance with strict safety controls.
