Mr E W Trent (DA) to ask the Minister for Public Enterprises:

(1) Whether she has been informed of the findings and recommendations of a study into environmental and health issues associated with the manganese terminal and tank farm in the Port Elizabeth harbour commissioned by a certain agency (name furnished) and undertaken by a certain company (name also furnished) in 2005; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so,

(2) whether she will make a statement on the matter? NW2394E

Reply

(1) No, I have not been informed of the findings as Transnet is still waiting for the copy of the study from the agency referred to. I, therefore, cannot make further comments on the matter until such report has been assessed.  

(2) No statement will be made about the matter.
