Dr S M van Dyk (DA) to ask the Minister for Public Enterprises:

(1) Whether (a) a certain company (name furnished) will be financed with public funds as a public enterprise and (b) the operations of this organisation will be of public interest; if not, why not; if so,

(2) Whether he will make public the trade agreement which the said company will be concluding with a certain company (name furnished); if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details? NW2548E

Reply

(1) (a) Yes, funding for Broadband Infraco comprises of equity and debt.
(b) Yes, Broadband Infraco will provide affordable bulk broadband services to the South African economy.

(2) No, all commercial agreements contain confidential information and thus cannot be disclosed to the public. However, all agreements concluded will comply with relevant legislation.
