In terms of the media statement by the Commission last week, Judge Robert Nugent and his panel will today start proceedings with the first day of public hearings. The Commission was appointed by President Cyril Ramphosa and its work is completely independent – this advisory, thus, is for planning purposes and general notification to the media ONLY, given the number of enquiries received from journalists.

Further, please be advised that Mr. Pravin Gordhan, the Minister of Public Enterprises, will be called as the first witness to testify before the Commission. Minister Gordhan is scheduled to start at 2.30 pm today.

The Commission of Inquiry into Tax Administration and Governance by SARS will hold its first public hearing of evidence from 26 June 2018 to 29 June 2018.

The hearing will commence at 14:00 on Tuesday, 26 June 2018 at the venue below:
